Lake Tahoe

My name is Kelly Hechinger. I have lived in the Truckee/ Lake Tahoe area for close to 40 years. My Aunt Daisy taught me to knit when I was very young. I didn't really pick it up again until my youngest son was about 3 years old. I knew I didn't want to knit any more scarves and told my friend Allison that I wanted to knit socks. She told me to get a pattern and start, if I needed help she would be there for me. I found a wonderful pattern from Diane Soucy who now owns Knitting Pure and Simple. (I guess she was destined to write patterns even way back then.) I started knitting my socks and continued all the way through the pattern. I did it. And I didn't stop. I love knitting socks. I've probably knit a hundred pair. They're fun and portable and now I can knit while in the car.

Anyway, having a store is a dream. I want to have beautiful, affordable yarns. My shop will also support the small fiber farmers. As a member of Carson Sierra Spinner and Weavers I have found many local guild members that have fiber farms that are processing and spinning beautiful yarns. I will be carrying those yarns and roving so there will always be new and interesting things in the shop as the seasons change.
