NEW CLASSES!!!!

Classes by Allison Judge

Allison has been a knitter, spinner and a weaver for many years. She has also been a friend for a very long time. She offers a variety of classes I thought you might be interested. She has offered to come one to two days a month to teach. If you are interested in any of the classes listed below please email me back and we will schedule a class. They will probably be on a Sunday and classes last for about 3 hours.

Entrelac

Unravel the mysteries of Entrelac! You will begin a scarf done in this short-row style of knitting which creates a basketweave effect. Worked in a solid colored yarn you will see this wonderful pattern emerge. Alternating colors or using a multi-colored yarn, it's magical!  For those who are adventurous you will have the opportunity to learn how to knit and purl back backwards, meaning you don't have to turn the work around at the end of every short row.

Level: Advanced beginner

Skills required: comfortable with knitting and purling.  Knowing how to pick up stitches along an edge will be an advantage

Date and time: TBA

Cost: $30

Materials list provided at time of payment

Finishing

As much fun as it is to knit a project, we knitters sometimes dread the "finishing" part. I find that usually this is because you may have had some unfortunate experiences with ugly seams, unwieldy button holes, or uneven knitting.

In this class you will learn how to make your projects, from a simple scarf to the most complexly patterned sweater, look as if it was made by a pro! . Topics covered: Long tail and knitted cast on, Stitch gauge, 3-needle bind off, I-cord and applied I-cord, Seaming, Button holes , Washing and blocking, How to read a ball band and if time allows, Kitchener stitch.  There will be homework to be done prior to class, involving the knitting of swatches. Be sure to pick up a materials list and homework assignment at the time of payment.

Skill level: advanced beginner - you must be comfortable with knitting and purling, cast on and bind off.

Date and time: TBA

Cost: $40

 Beginning Lace

Holes in your knitting?  Why not learn to make them intentionally - and create beautiful patterns at the same time.  We will cover the basics of lace by learning to read a chart and making a sampler using simple lace patterns.

Skill level: Beginner/Advanced beginner - you must be comfortable with knitting and purling, cast on and bind off.

Date and time: TBA

Cost: $30

Pick up materials list at time of payment.

Color Class - Fair Isle

Fair Isle, or stranded knitting, is a technique using many colors, but only 2 in each row.  In this class you will learn how to knit patterns from a chart and how to hold a color in each hand as you work.

Skill level: Advanced beginner - must be comfortable with knit and purl, cast on and bind off, and working in the round on double pointed needles.

Date & time: TBA

Cost:$30

At time of payment, pick up materials list and homework assignment to be completed prior to class

Color Class - Intarsia

Also called "picture" knitting, intarsia involves blocks of color, and 1 color is knit at a time, although there may be many colors across a row.  Learn to follow a chart to create a picture.

Skill level: Beginner/Advanced beginner - must be comfortable with knit and purl, cast on and bind off.

Date & time: TBA

Cost: $20

Pick up materials list at time of payment.

Check out the "Classes" page for the updated schedule.
